How can student recycling participation be increased and improved in campus buildings that have large auditoriums and lecture halls, like the Modern Languages Building and Angell Hall?

At the University of Michigan there are currently minimal efforts specifically targeted at lecture hall and auditorium recycling.

Unfortunately, students tend to leave recyclable trash in auditoriums. Moreover, the recycling rates of classroom buildings are consistently lower than those of adminsitrative buildings and campus housing.

The goal of our research is to generate recommendations to increase the recycling efforts in campus buildings with large auditoriums and lecture halls.

We are a group of students at the University of Michigan. This website is the product of a project assigned in our class, Environment 211: Social Sciences and Environmental Problems.
